My fiancée and I had a brilliant time exploring Scotland with 4×4 Overland Hire. It had everything that we needed including a comfy bed for our dog and a shower! The roof tent is surprisingly comfy and it makes you forget you are even camping at all! You really only need to bring food and toiletries. It’s a really nice way to spend a holiday and i would highly recommend to anybody looking to get away.
View ReviewWe have had a great experience with 4×4 overland hire from the minute we booked. They get in touch with you straightaway and send you booklet about the camper and how to use everything and then go through it again in person when you arrive. Booking and making payment is very simple and secure. You can leave your car with them in a secure drive with locked gates. The truck it’s self has everything you need to get going, it’s a very comfortable and fun drive once you get to or find where your going to camp for the night you can be set up in 10 minuets, pop the clips for the tent and unzip the awning and pull it round and your ready to go. The tent mattress is comfortable and easy to sleep in, it has lights and USB charging points inside. The fridge as plenty of space for your food and drinks for a few days. Using the shower and refilling the shower is easy, we only used it first thing in the mornings so it was only 16 degrees so you wake up very quickly, given time the shower does heat up through out the day we checked most days and by 3pm it was usually 28 degrees but will get hotter if the sun is out. Everything you could possibly need for camping is in the truck just bring food. We had the best time and we will be booking again some point next year if they are happy to have us.
View Review10/10. The 4×4 is incredible. We camped out in May this year. Everything you need for an off road adventure has been cleverly packed inside, whilst still being intuitive and easy to use. This is the ultimate camping truck for unpredictable Scottish conditions! Thanks Morven & team!
View ReviewUsed this service back in September and would give it a glowing reccomdation! The truck is very well equipped, the set up is great even for the colder nights. Lots of extra space for the dog and everything had been thought of in regards to facilities. Morven was very helpful with enquiries and always at hand. Couldn’t pick a better way of doing the NC500. Thanks a lot!
View ReviewWe used 4×4 Overland Hire for their superb vehicle as part of our honeymoon trip to drive around the North Coast 500.
From start to finish Morven was a ray of sunshine who could not have done more to help us plan and then execute our ten day trip. Her expertise of the van, local knowledge and overall great customer service made us sure we made the right choice.
We were blown away by the vehicle, it was super easy to utilise and gave us huge freedom to rock up, pop up and enjoy the scenery (in permitted places of course). We loved how easy it was to drive around too, this made it really enjoyable, meaning that we didn’t feel nervous and had confidence even on some of the most daunting roads, like around the Applecross Peninsula.
We did not have one bad night sleep and in fact on some occasions we woke up later than usual due to how cosy, dark and comfy the tent was.
Overall it was a fantastic experience that I would recommend to anyone looking to go on an adventure at their own pace in the beautiful spots we have available to us.
View ReviewBrilliant adventure in truck! So practical and great fun way to see Scotland. Can’t wait to plan the next trip.
View ReviewFor anyone looking to get off the beaten track I can thoroughly recommend the canopy camper. The vehicle itself is reliable, versatile and robust, comfortably transporting you wherever you need to go.
The roof tent is wind and water tight, warm and spacious. The cooking equipment and fridge plus the ample storage space make this an ideal way to get around and cater for your trip whilst allowing for flexibility.
Would happily use again
We have recently got back from our 4 night,5 day trip around the NC500. And it’s safe to say we had an amazing time. We camped wild and lived completely off grid for the whole duration of our trip and the truck is absolutely suited for such, we only needed to stop for water top ups and fuel. Morven has done such a great job on the truck come rain, sunshine or even mud, it’s no problem. We will be back next year!
View ReviewBrilliant! Perfect for doing the NC500. It has everything you need and more. Plus, you’ll never sleep so well on the road! Highly recommend!
View ReviewBeen away in the 4×4 overlander twice now. It’s amazing, kitted out with everything you need. It’s not just a camper. But allows you to connect closer with nature and have a more memorable experience.
View ReviewI wanted to try out this type of vehicle which is good for going off road while providing a secure camping environment.
The design is very well thought out with good attention to detail.Having a heater is a great bonus when the weather is cool
I found it very easy to set up being able to boil a kettle and set up the roof tent in about ten minutes.
In conclusion was loads of fun but could be cramped for two people in wet weather.
View ReviewMy dad and I took a rig on our exploration of Scotland, driving through the Cairngorms and up to the Isle of Skye! I cannot recommend 4×4 Overland Hire enough! It is truly the best way to visit Scotland! Morven is so helpful with any questions and has really thought of everything you might need in the truck! Thank you so much!
View ReviewAs a couple who have enjoyed many previous overland trips in a variety of 4×4 vehicles we decided to head north for a long weekend in the Cairngorms and opted to hire this fully equipped Hilux with Alucab canopy camper.
4×4 Overland Hire have really thought of everything you might need for camping in the Scottish wilderness. The Hilux is a very capable vehicle anyway but raised air intake, all terrain tyres and Maxtrax recovery equipment ensure you’re less likely to find yourself stuck in soft ground. The Alucab canopy camper is a great bit of kit – loft living still a novelty for us in our 50’s???? Fully equipped with fridge, cooker (working brilliantly in sub zero temperatures) and all kitchen needs neatly stowed away, plus the added bonus of diesel heater made those chilly nights perfectly bearable.
Morven recommended some great local locations in Braemar and Ballater – places we had previously overlooked, and these with stunning weather made for an unforgettable weekend. Couldn’t recommend more highly.
